Oct WonderLAN: Quake 3 CTF 5 vs 5

Here is the basic run-down of the Quake 3 CTF 5 vs 5 Competition I'll be holding at WonderLAN this weekend.

  • To sign up you will need to have Quake 3 installed and patched to version 1.32
  • The game mode will be base Quake 3 CTF with no other add-ons
  • Sign up on the day at the LAN
  • Teams will consist of 5 members and even if you don't have a team you can still sign up and get put into one
  • Games will run for 30 minutes with a capture limit of 8
  • The number of rounds and format of the competition will depend on the number of sign ups on the day.
  • The maps will be chosen from the standard quake 3 CTF map list (Q3CTF1, Q3CTF2, etc...)
  • Start Time will be worked at the LAN
  • Prizes unknown but the first and second place teams will be getting certificates, one for each player (Just like the old days)

The winning team will be picked by the following:
  • the first team to make 8 flag captures
  • the team with the most captures at the end of 30mins
  • if the time runs out and both teams have the same amount of flag caps then it will be the team with the highest overall score.

    Oct WonderLAN: Quake 3 Competition

If some of you can remember back to the old days (some 2+ years ago), I ran some competitions at WonderLAN with the idea of getting people to play games other than Counter Strike. I'm looking to start this off again and thought the October LAN would be a good place to start. The game I've chosen is Quake 3 but I though I'd get some feedback about what mode people would prefer.

If you would like to give me some feedback as to which of the following games modes you would prefer to play in a competition that would be great. The possible game modes I've choose are:

    • Quake 3: DM
    • Quake 3: Team DM
    • Quake 3: Standard CTF
    • Quake 3: Threewave CTF

Sorry no rocket arena this time, but I would consider QWTF ;-)
